Best New Product
The product or solution that demonstrates the most impressive technological advances as demonstrated by increased functionality, improved ease of use and/or cost reduction.
Judges' Choice
The product or solution that, in the opinion of the judges, deserves recognition for its unique approach to a security solution.
Access Control
Hardware or software products that allow and track the entry, movement and egress of persons and items (asset tracking) in a commercial, institutional or residential application.
Biometrics and Identity Solutions
Security products - hardware or software - that use biometric technologies and/or identity solutions. This may include products related to badging or identity management.
Commercial and Monitoring Solutions
Products - hardware or software - designed for use in the execution of security system monitoring or commercial applications. A monitoring product may be designed for use in the central station or locally by the user.
Convergence Solutions
Products that feature a successful blending of physical and logical technologies.
False Alarm Solutions
Products or software solutions engineered to reduce the occurrence of false alarms and, most importantly, false police dispatches.
Fire/Life Safety
Products designed for fire prevention, detection and notification. These include fire controllers, smoke/heat detectors, sirens/annunciators, keypads, pull stations and voice evacuation systems.
Integrated Software, Products and Systems
Products that incorporate the features and benefits of multiple security technologies into a single solution. This may include software that supports the implementation of dual or multiple technology systems.

Technologies engineered to detect and prevent unauthorized entry into a secured area. This may include physical or electronic products that support or interface with the intrusion detection system.

Logical or physical security products or support software that function on a network.
OEM
Components or software that are sold into the security market only through another company’s product or system. Examples include embedded software not sold as a standalone product, such as analytics or IT security devices, imaging sensors and any other embedded technologies that improve the performance of a security product.
Public Safety Solutions
New hardware products or software solutions engineered for the protection of life and property in public safety applications. (Includes physical, but not necessarily electronic, security products such as fencing or bollards.) Also includes security solutions designed for use by police, military or government, as well as products or technologies used to transmit mass messages or notifications that may be used in conjunction with security equipment.
Residential and Monitoring Solutions
Previously titled Home Automation, this category was recently broadened to recognize the increasing complexity of software and hardware products designed for residential use. Products may feature a combination of audio/visual, IT, personal emergency response systems and security technologies to bring homeowners a higher level of convenience, safety and security.

Tools & Hardware
This category recognizes innovation in the design of products that support the installation or execution of a security product or program.
Video Analytics
Video products engineered to gather, access and analyze video data in relation to a pre-determined set of criteria.
Video Device
Video products such as cameras, mounts or enclosures that introduce a new level of innovation, user benefit or price point.
Video Storage and Distribution
Video storage and distribution products such as digital video recorders (DVRs, NVRs and virtual storage).
Wireless
Security system components and sub-systems that provide and/or enable secure wireless communications.
